             abstract = "The search for rational land use try to address the conservation 
                         needs of natural resources, food andenergy production needs. This 
                         challenge has sought the dissemination of concepts techniques of 
                         conservation andmanagement to reduce the impacts on ecosystems, 
                         especially when it comes to the restoration and preservation 
                         oflandscapes which include the protection of soil, water and air. 
                         The temporal patterns of changing landscapes willonly be revealed 
                         through the description of the processes that influence its 
                         dynamics. Faced with the need todetermine these processes, this 
                         study aimed to analyze the dynamics of use and land cover between 
                         the years of1988 and 2016 due to observe the progress or setbacks 
                         in the conservation of ecosystems during the study periodin 
                         Brotas-SP municipality. The focus of the methodological procedure 
                         was the environmental characterization ofthe municipality and the 
                         use of dynamic uses in landscape assessment using Landsat images, 
                         related to the studyarea. There was a growth in the areas of 
                         natural vegetation with decreased mainly of areas for agricultural 
                         activities.This fact relates to the incentives for the development 
                         of activities related to ecotourism, which contributed toimproving 
                         the conservation of natural ecosystems. The strengthening of 
                         spaces dedicated to environmentalconservation, should be a premise 
                         of the municipal administration for the formulation, 
                         implementation andmonitoring plans, urban development programs and 
                         projects, adapting to the local reality and thus fulfilling 
                         theirgoals.",
